Dear 'life'

Why have you left the above post blank.

Do you want one of us to fill it in?

I won't mind filling in the List.

Before that, however, I would like to ask why just why 99, and not 101, or 1,001 ?

Unless, you believe in numerology, as I do.

Love,
Confused Confused Confused

Assalam Alaikum to every one.

What if all the oceans of the world would convert to ink,
and the wood in all the trees would convert to pens,
how many names in praise of Allah could you write?

Love,

Love,

Salam bro

despite that the verse is about the words of Allah not His names, I agree with you that there should be a limited number to the names of Allah because He can take for Him new names every day, this is just beyond our knowledge

He told us about a few of His names in the Quran, but as you can see even the Muslims are confused, they came 1400 years later and claim that those 99 names we learnnt were wrong and there should be another list of 99 names that should replace it, ironically the Azhar in Egypt accepted that, but I will never accept that Allah has a limited numbers of names that He can't have other names, He can even using words that humans never knew before

Salam

Post subject: NAMES/ATTRIBUTES of GOD - Allah, God, Yahwa Reply with quote

Thank you, brother. I agree with you entirely.

Further, one would like to know where exactly in the Koran does it say that Allah

has only 99 names/attributes/concepts and no more or no less?

When they make such lists, are they not subconciously attributing human attributes to Allah?

If these attributes/concepts are human, would it not be easy for a

skilled artist with a fertile imagination to convert them into images on to a canvas.

And if they could be converted to paintings, then from then onwards,

may be it would be a just short step, for a skilled sculpturist to make 99 images

representing the 99 facets of Allah? (God forbid!)

That would take us back to the Days of Ignorance.

The Quran never said that Allah has 99 names, this concept is human made

There are other names for Allah that He told us personally about it in the Quran, you will find most of the names (let's say a description of Him) found in many humans, but we can't compare it to what Allah is because whatever humans will posses of attributes, it will never reach the level that the God have,

for example, Allah told us that He is Rahim, i.e. merciful, and we know that there are humans who are merciful, so Allah told that he is Arham Al Rahimeen, i.e. He is the Most merciful of all, this in effect means that Allah will be the Most in any of these properties

these attributes are not man made, Allah told us about many of them in the Quran, He never told us how many though, but He ordered us to call Him always using these names.

I donlt get what you mean, but as I stated, these names are genuine and were told to us by Allah Himself but He never told us how many names He have, to put a 99 limit on it is rediculous by humans, He might have a million names, who knows exceot Him
